Publications History Volunteer, Registration Section
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in finding and documenting publications relating to the Spurlock Museum. Volunteers will be contributing to the establishment of a resource for preserving the Museum's history and making this information accessible. Tasks include online research, cataloguing, data entry and filing. Training on the Museum’s documentation systems and Filemaker Pro database will be provided.
Volunteers in this position will learn about how information is managed and how the Museum documents its history. This hands on behind-the-scenes experience is ideal for any one exploring a career in museums, libraries, or archives.
- commitment to volunteer 2–4 hours per week for a minimum of one semester
- excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- knowledge or interest in library or information science, museum studies, history, or related field
- familiarity with computer data entry
A minimum of 2 hours per week is required. Work times are flexible but must be scheduled between the hours of 8:30–4:30 Monday through Friday.
