Sewing Machine, 16, of Urbana, passed away December 1, 2016, from over work. No funeral services will be held, as per the deceased’s request. Sewing Machine was born in Nagoya, Japan, in 2000. It moved to Urbana, IL and worked at the Spurlock Museum in the Collections section where it toiled for 16 years until its untimely demise. Sewing Machine spent its life in faithful service, making table covers, assigning glove sizes by color, making bean bags and bean bag covers to hold artifacts safely, making covers for textile rolls, and a floor cover for the heat tent.

Sewing Machine is survived by the Collections staff and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Spurlock Museum in its name.

We will always carry your memory in our hearts faithful sewing machine. Thank you for your long years of dedicated service. Know that your work lives on, making a difference every day.
