Continued Commitment to Green Shield Certification

In September 2012, Spurlock Museum became the first museum to be awarded Green Shield Certification through the IPM Institute of North America. This program was created in 2000 in collaboration with some 40 experts in the field of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Its purpose is to evaluate IPM programs through an on-site assessment and to recognize those implementing the highest standards of IPM practices that use minimal pesticides to do the least harm to people and the environment.
