Description | This Greek coin is a Tetradrachm from Athens. It was struck in the early 2nd century BCE. The obverse contains a profile of Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, war, and peace and patron of Athens, wearing a triple crested helmet. The reverse contains an owl, the symbol of Athens, head facing forward and standing on a prostrate amphora. Many Greek letters surround the owl. |
