If you are bringing your school group to the Museum by bus or large van, there are two parking options available.
Paid Parking At the Museum
You can have parking meters bagged on Gregory St., in front of the Museum, or Oregon St., next to the Museum, reserving these spaces for your use only. The cost is $10 per meter per day. A bus will take two metered spaces. The reservation must be made with Jerry Rabbitt at the City of Urbana, 384-2314. When you call, have the following information ready: the date the meters are to be bagged, how many spaces you will need, your name and contact information, and the name and contact information for the person who should receive the bill for the bagging service. You may also fax this information to the same phone number.
Free Parking at Assembly Hall
After unloading students on Oregon St., the bus(es) will proceed to the designated University parking lot, where parking is free. The lot is E-14, located at Assembly Hall at First and Kirby Avenue, Champaign. (Kirby and Florida Avenues are the same street with different names in Champaign and Urbana.) This parking arrangement must be made with U of I Parking Department (external link) (217/333-3530) before the date of the program/tour. If you need directions to lot E-14, please visit the Parking Department for a campus parking map (external link).
Due to the high traffic flow at the University (both vehicle and pedestrian), City parking enforcement has asked that buses sit outside waiting for students for as short a time as possible. Please ask your bus drivers not to return from Assembly Hall bus parking to pick up your students before the assigned end of your program. The Museum staff will do their best to have your students ready to leave at the scheduled time of departure.
