Crafternoon at Spurlock: Diwali

Diwali is Sunday, October 30th! In observance of the holiday, Crafternooners can decorate model magic diyas (oil lamps) with paint, gems, and other embellishments and take home a battery operated tealight to put in it. We'll also explore the Indian art form of rangoli, which uses colored sand or flower petals to create colorful, intricate designs on the floor (in this case, crafters will be able to decorate smaller designs with shredded paper in a variety of colors).

Crafternoon is a weekday hands-on crafting program for museum visitors of all ages, with projects designed by the Museum's Education Section students to range skill levels from the youngest visitors up to adults.

The program runs each Tuesday afternoon from October 4 through November 15th in the Zahn Learning Center.
