Historical Campus Walking Tour: “Let There Be Music!”

The final tour in the series will celebrate music at the U of I. The walk will include information on the Music Building followed by an introduction to Smith Memorial Hall by author Lex Tate portraying Tina Weedon Smith, for whom the building is named. The final stop will be a tour of the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music by director Scott Schwartz. Tours will depart at 1:15 pm and 2:30 pm.

About the series:

Expand your insights of the University of Illinois as the Spurlock Museum hosts a series of free walking tours to nearby campus locations. The tours, each beginning in the Museum’s lobby, will be held every Sunday afternoon in October. Tours will be offered between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, will average 1 mile in distance, and will last between 45 and 60 minutes. The tours are held in conjunction with the exhibit Knowledge at Work: The University of Illinois at 150.
