SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"Archaeology Day Performance: Runa Roots"
DESCRIPTION:"\rAs a part of the Archaeology Student Society's Archaeology Day, Chicago-based Andean fusion band Runa Roots will perform at the Spurlock Museum. The band is made up of Kichwa musicians who fuse traditional Andean music with melodies from around the world, including reggae, ska, Irish Celtic and more. Museum open hours will be extended for this event with the Museum's galleries will closing at 5:30 PM. \r\rThis year's Archaeology Day theme, \"History in Motion,\" explores the complex ways in which history is generated, in part, through complex movements of people, places, and things. From processes of migration to the embodied performances of dance and musical expression, culture is always “in motion.” In addition to the 4pm performance of Runa Roots, a daytime component of Archaeology Day will take place on the Davenport Hall quad (10 AM-2 PM) for interactive archaeology booths and a Nahua danza workshop!\r\rThis event is organized by the Archaeology Student Society and is sponsored by the Program Coordinating Council, Student Cultural Programming Fee, Spurlock Museum and the Departments of: Anthropology, Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (US Dept. of Education Title VI grant), African American Studies, English, and Unit for Criticism.\r\r"
