SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"Concert: “CONVERGENCE: Spirituals from the Shtetl. Davening from the Delta” by Anthony Russell"
DESCRIPTION:"\rPart of the CAS/MillerComm Lecture Series\r\rCONVERGENCE is a new repertoire of works exploring exile, spirituality, hope and redemption. The musical idioms are diverse as well, bearing elements of contemporary classical, jazz, blues, gospel, klezmer, chazzanut and experimental music.\r\rMr. Russell is accompanied by pianist Rachel Jensen.\r\rThe CAS/MillerComm public events series brings to campus people who offer unique cross-disciplinary contributions to the intellectual and cultural life of the university.\r\rThis Center for Advanced Study event is hosted by the Program in Jewish Culture and Society in conjunction with the Department of African American Studies, Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, Department of History, Department of Religion, Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, Robert E.
