SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"University Faculty and Staff Workshop:\rStewardship of American Indian Objects and Histories"
DESCRIPTION:"\rJoin us for a workshop featuring a brief overview of American Indian history not found in books and/or information that is rarely shared about various tribes. We will also talk about how to maintain a sense of respect for sacred objects and universal tribal views shared by indigenous people of the Americas. This workshop is developed with special attention to the needs of those in the University who work with Native students, or who teach with and about American Indian people, cultures, histories, or objects. All are welcome!\r\rSleepyEye LaFromboise (Tonawanda Seneca/ Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota) travels extensively with his work centering on Native American youth empowerment through cultural and spiritual sustainment. His work also focuses on Native American cultural sensitivity and wellness training for organizations, tribes, and individuals. He has been a member of the United National Intertribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY) for over 20 years and is also the Fire Keeper for the organization. Through his empowerment lens, he applies storytelling through song, prayer, and teaching as the tool for all. \r\rCo-sponsored by Native American House\r\r"
