SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"Special Installation: Life in Amman"
DESCRIPTION:"\rBe imparted with an impression of day-to-day living in Amman, Jordan through a photo compilation contributed by nine Jordanians. From these images, learn about a side of the Middle East not commonly found in the headlines. \r\r\rLife in Amman is the summation of Ester Fang’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Follow-On Project for studying abroad in Amman, Jordan during the fall of 2016. In an age of rampant Islamophobia and the media portrayal of a conflict-ridden Middle East, she felt compelled to provide a nuanced, fresh perspective on what living in the Middle East is like. Ms. Fang befriended local Jordanians, asking them to participate in a research photo project. Equipped with disposable cameras, the participants presented their typical day through a series of snapshots. Interview responses accompany the photography, revealing the participants’ reflections on their dreams, Jordan, and the Middle East. The exhibition is a testament to the love one can have for their homeland and the universality of aspirations. \r\r"
