SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"WorldFest"
DESCRIPTION:"\rJoin us for performances and crafts throughout the Museum on this Sunday afternoon.\r\rThe Performers\rThe Dorians are a Celtic band from Carbondale, IL, offering ballads and dance music from the Irish and Scottish traditions. They were voted “Best Acoustic Band” in the 1997 Southern Illinois Music Awards. The Dorians have performed throughout Illinois and Missouri at festivals, community colleges, academic conferences, and arts education programs. They are the house band for the nationally syndicated public radio program, Celtic Connections, hosted by the band’s flute/whistle player and singer, Bryan Kelso Crow. The band also includes Mickey Soltys on fiddle and guitar, and Mike Shanahan on guitar and vocals.\r\rRocky Maffit and Chad Dunn present exciting programs on world percussion that interlink music, history, geography, and humor. Highly accomplished individual musicians and teachers, they have played together since 1998. Their acclaimed duet concerts and workshops have been enjoyed by thousands of people of all ages.\r\rKim Sheahan is the Spurlock Museum’s Assistant Director of Education and resident storyteller. She performs folktales from around the world for audiences of all ages throughout central Illinois.\r\rOne of the featured crafts will be lanterns you can decorate and take to the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for a special thank you package. The lanterns will be used to decorate Krannert Center's lobby for their September 9th opening night party, which will feature music by Tiempo Libre. There is a $5 admission to the opening night party; kids 5 and under can come free, but must have a ticket. \r"
