SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"Let's Have a Kiki: Lola Carter Rothschild"
DESCRIPTION:"\r“Let’s Have a Kiki” is a series of half hour informal gallery talks during the run of the exhibit In Her Closet—How to Make a Drag Queen. \r\rJoin us for our next kiki November 12 at 12:30 pm with Lola Carter Rothschild, a Midwest diva with big city dreams and a small town heart, Lola loves making and creating drag for people to enjoy. A loud and proud person of color (PO.C.), she espouses positivity, confidence, and per.sistence as key qualities in life. She wants you to never give up on yourself.\r\rCheck out her instagram @whetevalolawants (external link) or Facebook (external link).\r\rWe respectfully adopt kiki as a term meaning “social gathering” that emerged from Black queer ballroom cultures in New York City. Known for its fun, laid-back, gossip-filled atmosphere, a kiki is also a support network that provides food, shelter, HIV advocacy and awareness, and an avenue for self-affirming performance expression for queer and trans youth living in the streets.\r\rThe other kikis in this series will be held 12:30–1:00pm on Wednesday, February 12; Tuesday, March 10; and Tuesday, April 14.\r"
