DESCRIPTION:"\rThe Spurlock Museum is pleased to host a Rakugo performance by Master Ryuutei Saryuu. \r\rRakugo is a traditional Japanese storytelling performance. The performer sits on the stage and tells a story that may involve several characters. He may stand up on his knees but never on his feet. His props are only a sensu (Japanese fan) and a tenugui (Japanese towel).\rThis performance will be in Japanese with English subtitles.\rRegisterAbout the Artist\rMaster Ryuutei Saryuu’s real name is Susumu Nakamura. He joined the Sanky&omacr; Yanagiya family in 1993 and received a shin’uchi rank (the highest rank of Rakugoka, the final performer of the show) in 2006. He was awarded the Hanagata Engei Prize Gold Award in 2011 and 2012.\r\rThis event is co-sponsored by the Spurlock Museum, the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies, and Subaru Indiana Automotive.
