SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"Flatlands Dance Film Festival"
DESCRIPTION:"\rJoin Dance at Illinois for the annual Flatlands Dance Film Festival: Film Shorts Competition\r\rThe Flatlands Dance Film Festival is dedicated to supporting and presenting the art of Dance Cinema, a medium that explores and innovates the intersections between filmmaking and dancemaking. The festival is a hub of learning, building educational platforms, encouraging dialogue, and promoting a diverse range of cultural perspectives from around the globe, showcasing a variety of films and shorts dedicated to dance performance, dance for camera, influential artists in the field, and the social impact of dance worldwide. \r\rAs a key supporter and presenter of the Flatlands Dance Film Festival, Dance at Illinois recognizes the vast potential where choreography and the screen reside together. Dance films provide greater access for audiences and more opportunities for visual/movement artists to utilize technology from a choreographic perspective. \r\rThe film competition presents a vibrant selection of dance films from diverse cultures around the world. Each film serves as a unique exploration of movement and storytelling, skillfully pushing artistic boundaries and artfully blending the visual language of cinema with the emotional depth of dance. This year, we are excited to feature a distinguished panel of adjudicators: Associate Teaching Professor Betsy Brandt, a noted interdisciplinary dance educator, dramaturg, and writer; Assistant Professor Elliot Reza Emadian, an innovative interdisciplinary artist, teacher, and scholar; and Esteban Donoso, an accomplished researcher, artist, and scholar with expertise in dance, performance, and film. After the screening, festival director, Laura Chiaramonte, will announce the festival winner. Meanwhile, the Audience Award will reflect the enthusiastic input of our audience, making your voice a vital part of the festival experience!\r\r"
