SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"Spurlock Sundays: Nerd Pub: S.T.E.A.M. Challenge Stations"
DESCRIPTION:"\rSTEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) activities facilitate the development a range of psycho-motor-social skills…simultaneously. These can include problem-detection, problem-solving, strategy revision, clear and supportive communication, inclusive collaboration, and creativity. \r\rWhile STEAM activities expose youth to career pathways and help them acquire skills that will prove useful throughout their occupational lives, such skills are equally relevant to a broad spectrum of impending situations and challenges across their upper adolescent and adult lives as they become members and leaders of sports teams and clubs, faith communities, school boards, local community organizations, and political parties. \r\rMost importantly, learning experiences that are engaging because they are interactive, hands-on, and multi-model, like STEAM activities, allow youth to have fun while exploring concepts in ways that are mentally rigorous and that involve practical application in real time. For students who might struggle with traditional learning methodologies, STEAM activities often prove beneficial towards improving retention of information and expanding a love of learning. \r\rCome display your multiple intelligences, simultaneously, at each of our STEAM activity stations. Let’s maintain a safe place for Nerds to nerd! \r\r \rAbout the Series:\r\rSpurlock Sundays are free, drop-in programs held on one Sunday of the month from 1:00–3:30 pm. Programs are open to visitors of all ages and developed with youth and family in mind. Spurlock Sunday activities can take a multitude of forms, from crafts, games, performances, topical open-mic sharing, community conversations, and hands-on experiences with cultural artifacts.\r\rHeader photo generated by Mr. Stocker on Adobe Stock.\r \r"
