She is a Fellow of the Agricultural History Society, and also winner of the Agricultural History Society’s James C. Giesen Award for Excellence in Teaching Rural and Agricultural History, as well as the Gladys Baker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Agricultural History. She is the author or editor of seven books. Her most recent book is When a Dream Dies: Agriculture, Iowa, and the Farm Crisis of the 1980s, winner of the Benjamin F.
