SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:"CAS\/MillerComm Lecture: \"A System Fit for Purpose? The Challenge of Governance in Greece\" by Kevin Featherstone"
DESCRIPTION:"\rThe CAS/MillerComm public events series brings to campus people who offer unique cross-disciplinary contributions to the intellectual and cultural life of the university.\r\r\"A System Fit for Purpose? The Challenge of Governance in Greece\"\rKevin Featherstone\rContemporary Greek Studies, London School of Economics and Political Science\r\rWhy do Greek governments fail? Governments in Athens have achieved great national projects in key historical periods, but the current crisis has exposed endemic problems in the capacity of governments to deliver reform. These problems will continue to impact on Greece's way out of the crisis, whatever the terms of its \"bail-outs.\" As such, they will define key central challenges not only for Greece, but also for the European Union in managing a heterogeneous union.\r\rThis Center for Advanced Study event is hosted by the Modern Greek Studies Program in conjunction with the Center for Global Studies, Center for International Business Education and Research, Cline Centre for Democracy, European Union Center, Department of Economics, Department of French, Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, Department of History, Department of Linguistics, Department of Political Science, School of Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics, Spurlock Museum, and the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations.\r\r"
