Life in the Polis

This program touches on many aspects of ancient Greek life as discussed in the Museum’s Ancient Mediterranean Gallery: home, the gymnasium, religion, drama, and law. Activities include an artifact hunt and participating in a short drama and Greek-style trial.

Theme: Ancient Connections

Some of the Museum’s most popular tours focus on the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Attend an Athenian trial. Write cuneiform on a clay tablet. Meet a mummy.

Educators

We recommend the following chaperone/student ratios for visiting K-12 groups:

Pre-K–2nd grade: 3 chaperones per 25 students
3rd–5th grade: 2 chaperones per 25 students
6th–12th grade: 1 chaperone per 25 students
