Film: “Man on Fire” with director Joel Fendelman and producer James Chase Sanchez

The documentary Man on Fire tells the story of white preacher Charles Moore who immolated himself to protest the racism of Grand Saline, on the surface an ordinary small Texas town east of Dallas characterized by football games and homecoming parades. But all of America is reflected in the racism to which Moore, in a suicide note, said he was responding. The film explores themes of sacrifice, community repentance, memory and the complexity surrounding violent acts.
Man on Fire appeared on PBS’ Independent Lens and won a 2017 IDA Award.
