The Contemporary Conversations program series instigates conversations around contemporary cultural issues, themes, and ideas. The Museum is hosting a series of conversations to connect with its current exhibit Blues Dancing and its African American Roots. “Blues dance” is a new name encompassing a family of social and popular dance practices of everyday people within African American communities in the US. It was and is done to blues music from gospel, to jazz, acoustic Delta blues, electric Chicago Blues and more.

This conversation series aims to explore the social construct of Black music and dance through moderated dialogue with a small panel of experts and dance/music practitioners.

The programs run from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Zoom.
