Since 1999, Fred Freund has annually donated Chinese and Japanese wooden sculptures to the Museum. This distinguished collection contains artworks spanning four centuries and a wide variety of subjects, many of which are connected to East Asian folklore, poetry, and mythology.
This spring, the Museum celebrates Mr. Freund and his donation in a new book entitled Sculpted Stories: Selected Works from the Fred Freund Collection, in which the objects and their stories are combined. These cases feature objects from the collection grouped by book chapter, as well as representations of the cover and a selected page from the publication.
This exhibit is on view through December 6 on the Museum’s second floor balcony Featured Object Case.
