A Celebration of Resilience: A Closing Ceremony for the Black Joy Project

Come vibe with us as we celebrate Black Joy in all its beauty! This special event is packed with activities that will feed your soul and lift your spirits.
(All-white attire is encouraged.)
- Poetry in Motion: experience powerful spoken word from the Poet Laureate of Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Ruby Mendenhall and other Poets
- Feel the Beat: get ready to groove to the rhythm of the drums! We’ll have a live drumming session that will move you to dance
- Soul Food for the Soul: savor delicious food from Wood N Hog barbecue style
- Mental Wellness Moment: take a break and reflect at our Black Joy Jars station, where you can fill jars with uplifting affirmations, share positive affirmations, and focus on your mental health
- A final walkthrough of the gallery space
- Black Joy, Full Circle: connect with others, celebrate our collective strength, and immerse yourself in a day full of culture, healing, and togetherness
