Come vibe with us as we celebrate Black Joy in all its beauty! This special event is packed with activities that will feed your soul and lift your spirits.

(All-white attire is encouraged.)

  • Poetry in Motion: experience powerful spoken word from the Poet Laureate of Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Ruby Mendenhall and other Poets
  • Feel the Beat: get ready to groove to the rhythm of the drums! We’ll have a live drumming session that will move you to dance
  • Soul Food for the Soul: savor delicious food from Wood N Hog barbecue style
  • Mental Wellness Moment: take a break and reflect at our Black Joy Jars station, where you can fill jars with uplifting affirmations, share positive affirmations, and focus on your mental health
  • A final walkthrough of the gallery space
  • Black Joy, Full Circle: connect with others, celebrate our collective strength, and immerse yourself in a day full of culture, healing, and togetherness
