Description | This Greek coin is a silver Stater or Didrachm from Olympia in the province of Elis on the Peloponnesus in Greece. It was struck in the late 5th to mid-4th century BCE. The obverse is an eagle, the symbol of Zeus, wings closed, attacking a snake. The reverse is a thunderbolt, another symbol and weapon of Zeus, Greek king of the Gods, with furled wings. |
