Description | This Greek coin is a Triobol from Athens in central Greece. The date it was struck is unknown. The obverse contains a profile of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, and peace and patron of Athens, wearing a helmet. The reverse is an owl, the symbol of Athens, facing forward. He is bracketed by olive twigs, the tree that Athena gifted to the Athenians. To the left of his feet is the letter E (Epsilon) backwards. To the right of his feet is the letter Θ (Theta). |
