Description | This Greek coin is a silver Triobol or Hemidrachm from Athens. It was struck in the mid to late 5th century BCE. The obverse is a profile of Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, war, and peace and patron of Athens. The reverse is an owl, the symbol of Athena. On either side of the owl are olive twigs, the tree that Athena gifted to the Athenians. |
