Description

This Greek coin is a silver Drachm from Massalia in ancient Gaul, modern day France. It was struck sometime during or after the 2nd century BCE. The obverse is a profile of Artemis, Greek goddess of the hunt and protector of youth. The reverse is a lion with the letters ΜΑΣΣΑ (Mu Alpha Sigma Sigma Alpha) denoting the coin is from Massalia.
