Comment
The 'Da-Dg' series are those which have tallies of livestock and Agricultural produce. There seems to have been four groups of domesticated animals at the palaces; oxen, goat, sheep and pig. Two other animals are also mentioned frequently, the horse and deer. The purpose of these tablets seem to be alllocations or contributions, because of the number of animals involved. Tablets Dc1298 and Dd 1171 record allocations/contributions of sheep -- in Dc1298 , the sheep are described as 'male' and 'old male'; in Dd 1171, 'female' and again 'old male'. The place names given are in the dative case, suggesting that the tablets recorded the number of sheep at a particular place.
