Research Remarks

Description

Corinthian Globular Pyxis
Shape and Ornament - Round body, round handles set vertically, flaring foot, with glazed concentric bands on underside. Dots and concentric circles on lid. Stripes on the exterior of rim. On the shoulder, a subgeometric design of double -dots and bands. Handles and one of three broad bands on lower body also glazed.
Accessory Colors - Red : stripes, double-dots, and bands.
Dimensions and Conditions - H. with handles 0.137 m.; d. body 0.16 m.; d. rim 0.076 m.; d. foot 0.105 m.; d. lid 0.089 m. Buff fabric, brown glaze. Foot chipped, lid repainted. Decoration faded.
