Description


The sistrum is an ancient percussion instrument played like a rattle and consisting of a thin frame with numerous metal rods that jingle when shaken. Purchased from Chivrazzi and De Auplis, Naples, 7/16; one of several musical instruments for 350 francs. Li pl. 64 (designation unknown) --Acc. Card, n.d.
