Research Remarks

Published Description

CORINTHIAN ARYBALLOS Spherical body, slightly flattened; round bottom; concave handle. Glazed bands on flat surface of mouth and edge of the lip. On the body, five large petals arranged radially around a double circle with star inside. On reverse, two smaller crossed petals. Accessory Colors: Purple: large petals. The design is a late, debased form of quatrefoil. -- Wisseman, Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, Plate 5, 9.
