Published Description | HANDLES FROM WINE JARS In antiquity the handles of large wine jars were stamped to indicate their origin. One handle bore the dealer's name, the other the name of a yearly elected magistrate whose name dated the vintage. These handles all are stamped with the dealer's name. |
