Published Description

APULIAN GNATHIA KANTHAROS Ribbed body set off at top by a line and below by a groove, ring handles, flaring foot. Palmette around base of each handle. Lower body and top of foot reserved and reddened. On edge of foot, dots and groove. SUBJECT A, above the ribs; a bird between ivy with berries. B, above the ribs: an ivy spray. ACCESSORY COLORS White: top line. Yellow: palmettes, dots and grooves. A, bird B. Attributed to the Alexandria Group by J. R. Green (in a letter dated 8/14/1979). Around 280 B.C.-- Wisseman, Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, Plate 58, 1-2.
