Published Description | CAMPANIAN TEANO OMPHALOS BOWL Shape and Ornament: Hemispherical bowl, disk foot with three grooves. Underside of foot decorated with three concentric circled. Interior decorated with an ompaholos bordered by a groove and successive concentric bands of florals, with incised stems, stamped circles, a groove, stamped ovals and circled, pendants, and dots. ACCESSORY COLORS White: floral, grooves, pendants, and dots. From Teano. About 300 B.C. -- Wisseman, Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, Plate 61, 9 and 12. |
