Description

ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE MASTOID
Shape and Ornament: Offset lip, diagonal handles, no foot. Interior glazed (misfired) except for reserved band inside lip. Ivy leaf under each handle. Three reserved bands below scene.
Subject: A-B, a satyr and a maenad in silhouette technique, dancing between two palmettes. Vine in background.
First quarter of the fifth century B. C. -- Wisseman, Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, Plate 13, 3-4.
