Published Description

Demeter on a Throne: A terra cotta statuette of the Greek goddess of the harvest. Found at Agrigento in Sicily. A seated female figure on a high backed seat or throne. The figure is no indication of the arms. She is depicted wearing a simple peplos over a chiton. The figure is believed to be Demeter, goddess of the harvest, and possibly served as votive in one of the shrines. Agrigento Sicily, 510 B.C.
