Research Remarks
Published Description | Terracotta female figurines, found in several standard forms, have been discovered wherever the Myceneans settled--from Syria to southern Italy. Cretan deities--such as the Snake Goddesses--probably served as the models from which Mycenean artists created these stylized forms. They are usually painted with broad, decorative lines. The two fragments displayed here were found at Mycenae. |
