Published Description

From the catalogue, An Exhibition of Medieval Brass Rubbings by Kathleen H. Cairns. "William, fifth Baron Willoughby d'Eresby, c. 1400. In transitional armour with skirt of overlapping plates. With his first wife, Lucy, each under triple canopy. Side shafts and inscription lost. Brass probably laid down some time before 1400. Lord Willoughby died in 1410. Note the orle, or wreath, around his basinet. This is a rare feature on brasses.
