Published Description | From the catalogue, An Exhibition of Medieval Brass Rubbings by Kathleen H. Cairns: "Sir William de Etchingham, 1412, with wife Joan and son Thomas. The armour is of the complete plate or Lancastrian armour. Lady Joan is in a lined mantle. INSCRIPTION: Here lies Sir William, Knight, Lord of Etchingham, who died the twentieth day of the month of March, in the year of our Lord 1412. Also Lady Johanna, his wife, who died on the first day of the month of September in the year of our Lord 1404. And Sir Thomas de Etchingham, Knight, Also Lord of Etchingham, who died the twentieth day of January, in the year of our Lord 1485, on whose soul God have mercy. Amen." |
