Description

Description from 1971-72 exhibit catalog by Kathleen Cairns: "Lingfield--Dame Eleanor, 1420. Daughter of Sir Thomas Colpeper, first wife of Sir Reginald Cobham of Sterborough. The banner and shields bear the Colpeper and Cobham arms.
INSCRIPTION: Here lies Lady Eleanor former wife of Reginald de Cobham, soldier, daughter of Thomas Colpeper, soldier. Who died the 5th day of the month of November in the year of our Lord 1420. may God have mercy on her soul.
