From the catalogue, An Exhibition of Medieval Brass Rubbings by Kathleen H. Cairns. "Sir John de Cobham, 1367, died January 1407 or 1408, Third Baron Cobham. He was founder of the College, 1362, for five priests to say daily masses for the response of the souls of his ancestors. Inscription in French. INSCRIPTION: The Founder of this place once called Cobham was made and formed out of the dust of the earth and into the earth and to the earth he has again returned. May the Holy Trinity have mercy on his soul."
