Published Description | From the catalogue, An Exhibition of Medieval Brass Rubbings by Kathleen H. Cairns. "William de Lodyngton, 1419. In judicial robes, with coif and anlace, a short two-edged dagger worn at the waist, and a leopard at his feet. Mutilated canopy. Justice of the Common Pleas to Henry V. INSCRIPTION: Lodington William in holy tomb resting. Upright was he, wherefore may he be a citizen of heaven feasting at the banquet. Here lies William de Lodynngton, formerly Justiciary of our most illustrious Lord King Henry the Fifth in the court of Common Pleas, who died on the 9th day of January A.D. 1419, on whose soul may God have mercy.
