| Published Description | “Ornaments. Numerous varieties of ornaments are occasionally found. these include beads, earspools, discoidals, gorgets and plummets. They are sometimes made of exotic or nonlocal materials, indicating that they were not manufactured at the site and were obtained through trade. They may be found in a burial context as grave offerings on occasion, reflecting the status of the deceased...Possible uses for plummets are as net weights, ornaments or weights for bolas for capturing small animals or waterfowl“ (Turner and Hester, 251). |
