Description

Frederick Dosé: “ ... Kyoto Satsuma style ... having diamond-pattern foot in blue on white, bottle-form with wide neck and flaring lobate rim (gilt edged) ...dark ground with trailings in cloisonné imitation, cartouches of fallen horse in landscape, the other side with cartouche of seated monk holding a fly-whisk and a table beside him, trailing flower branches and a descriptive cartouche; a smaller scenic cartouche above with part of a temple arch and a view beyond, this balanced on the other side with a cartouche of a flowering tree and flying bird....”
