Description

Per Joel Gordon, Dept. of History, UIUC, 1997:
(Info on 1995.10.0011).
"This is listed as an Arabian-style synagogue lamp." "Arabian-style" should be dropped, and Middle Eastern used instead. Research should be conducted as to what particular religious desingation this belongs, if any.
"Most confusing are the variety of geographical designations. The item is listed in various files as Moroccan and Palestinian, but also as purchased in Yemen. Generally tourists travel to the north. The Jewish population tended to be from the south (Aden); most in any case, left in the late 40's/early 50's." Religious designation is questionable.
