Research Remarks
Published Description | From Horowitz. 2002. This small brass depicts the Resurrection, with Jesus stepping from the tomb past the sleeping soldiers. The two scrolls have Latin phrases regarding the Resurrection. It is not known to whom this brass belonged. One conjecture is that it was the tomb monument of Sir Robert Tate, alderman of London, who died in 1501. This type of religious scene on a brass was short-lived due to the Reformation. |
