Description

"A Japanese boxwood stand, carved to form chrysanthemums, foliage and buds, surmounted by a crystal ball. The okimono signed Kazunori, dates from the early Meiji period, 19th century. 4.25"H, and is a finer piece than the comparable.

Boxwood (Buxus michrophylia) is termed a "hardwood". It is a very close-grained dense yellowish brown hardwood. (Hardwood comes from an angiospermous tree.)" - Bernie McManus, Appraiser, Woodbury House, Connecticut, 8/8/2001.
