Research Remarks
Description | This is a Chinese bamboo wine vessel called a zun with a design of symmetrical ram heads and scrolling flowers. The ram (yang) is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac and is often associated with gentleness and compassion. This carving is also made from bamboo, a wood that is difficult to carve and that represents longevity given its nature of lasting throughout winter. |
