STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) activities facilitate the development a range of psycho-motor-social skills…simultaneously. These can include problem-detection, problem-solving, strategy revision, clear and supportive communication, inclusive collaboration, and creativity.
While STEAM activities expose youth to career pathways and help them acquire skills that will prove useful throughout their occupational lives, such skills are equally relevant to a broad spectrum of impending situations and challenges across their upper adolescent and adult lives as they become members and leaders of sports teams and clubs, faith communities, school boards, local community organizations, and political parties.
Most importantly, learning experiences that are engaging because they are interactive, hands-on, and multi-model, like STEAM activities, allow youth to have fun while exploring concepts in ways that are mentally rigorous and that involve practical application in real time. For students who might struggle with traditional learning methodologies, STEAM activities often prove beneficial towards improving retention of information and expanding a love of learning.
Come display your multiple intelligences, simultaneously, at each of our STEAM activity stations. Let’s maintain a safe place for Nerds to nerd!
