Lecture by De Haven Solimon Chaffins
The abstract paintings of De Haven Solimon Chaffins feature imagery inspired by traditional Pueblo stories and beliefs. This contemporary Native American artist will speak about her work in the lecture Fragments of the Underworld in the Spurlock Museum’s Knight Auditorium, Friday, February 13th at 7:30 PM. The event is open to the public, and admission is free. The lecture is part of a series of events held in conjunction with the Museum’s Focus Gallery exhibit The American Indian Center of Chicago Celebrates 50 Years of Powwow. This event is co-sponsored by the Verde Gallery, where Ms. Chaffin’s work will be displayed from February 10th through March 20th.
